[Review] Touch of Seduction by Rhyannon Byrd

Synopsis: Sold into slavery as a child to a cruel taskmaster, tiger-shifter Aiden Shrader trusts no one. Not even his own kind. Yet as a member of the Watchmen—the organization of shape-shifters who keep watch over the ancient nonhuman races—Aiden is fiercely protective of the helpless. Never more so than when he’s asked to guard a little girl with witches’ blood—and her beautiful human aunt. A woman who arouses all of Aiden’s primal urges…urges he must resist.
To small-town schoolteacher Olivia Harcourt, the massive tiger-shifter with the glowing amber eyes is as much a dark mystery as the enemy stalking her. Yet Aiden is her only hope of surviving. Until their intense passion unleashes her own inner tigress with a ferocity that will make the evil Casus rue the day they messed with her family…and will take Aiden by seductive surprise.

You are probably wondering: where are the reviews of book 1 to 3? Well, I never wrote them, because I only read book #1 Edge of Hunger, which I did not like. But I was intrigued by Aiden and had to know with whom he would end up with. After reading Touch of Seduction I tried Touch of Temptation (book #6?), but no, sorry, this book – the one that you will be reading about in just a sec – is the only one out of the series that I actually liked.

Caution: I might spoil a little.

Well, okay, here we go.

The hero of this book is called Aiden, a tiger shifter, and he has this little, teeny tiny problem with humans – his human (!) mother sold him when he was just a child to a guy who liked to “rent” him to people. These people were allowed to do anything they liked to him and other kids.

After being with Mueller for several years… well, let’s just say that I would hold a grudge against humans too. And still he got a human mate – I loved how that worked out. He is really torn between holding on to his hate and letting her change his opinion.

The said human mate is Olivia, a lovely kindergarten teacher and the only human in a family of witches. Her sister Monica was murdered not long ago and her other sister Chloe was abducted by the Casus.

Quick detour, the Casus are kind of like vampires (?, I’m not really sure) and bad. They want to kill everyone and are kind of hard to kill, if you don’t have a thing called “Marker”.

Yeah, well anyway, Molly the protagonist of book 1, who can hear ghosts, heard Olivia’s sister Monica asking to help her sister and then send Aiden to help Olivia and her niece Jamie. And that’s how those two meet. BTW Jamie is just adorable.

I liked Olivia. She is this shy and nice little human, who does not take any BS from Aiden. At the same time she supports him and I just love her. Especially for having no problems with Aiden’s past or the fact that he can shift into a big bad tiger.

Sorry, but I’m silently laughing right now. I think I’m really funny 😉 Isn’t the kitten adorable?

The side characters are well defined and all of them either already had their HEA before this book or will get it after Aiden and Olivia’s story, because the series is already complete.

I had no problems with the writing style of Rhyannon Byrd, just with the entire series in general. I just don’t like it except for this book above, but I love her Bloodrunner-series.
