End of 2014 Read-A-Thon: End + Last Game

Today is the last day of the It’s The End of 2014 Read-A-Thon. It was the first Read-A-Thon I joined and it was fun. I couldn’t participate in all the games, because most of the games required real book and make no mistake, I do have those, but they are all in german, so I decided not to take place in those games.

I read a lot. I don’t even know how I did it. I’m kinda impressed by myself. I’m just so awesome. LOL. Okay, back tor reality.

I really have no clue how I did it. The Read-A-Thon lasted 12 days. Three of those days were christmas in Germany. Thankfully I only visited family on the 24th and the 25th, so I had time to read on the 26th. From the nine days left I had to work on six days. Only 6 hours a day thankfully, but it was still hard.

Well anyway I did it. I finished all three challenges!

Okay, that GIF was awkward. LOL.

When I started this Read-A-Thon I created a pool of 9 books from which I could choose from and I read 7 of those :). A total of 2063 pages!

Hope you all had as much fun as I did and let’s do this again next year ๐Ÿ™‚ and now last but not least

Today’s game

Gems…. list your top ten favorite books of 2014

Like yesterday’s game I already did this for the Top Ten Tuesday, so here’s the link.

Teaser Tuesday #20 | First Paragraph Tuesday Intros #8 +11th Game

I decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

I know, I know, I’m a little late today, but I had to work, so forgive me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I originally intended to feature Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh, because the paperpack version got out today and I expected the kindle price to drop. But no, that did not happen, so no Shield of Winter and I won’t buy it for 7โ‚ฌ (insane!). In the beginning it cost 14โ‚ฌ, which was even more insane!!

So now I’m going to feature Welcome To Sugartown by Carmen Jenner , which was for free on amazon and still is (?). I liked the synopsis even though I normally give new adult novels a wiiiiiide berth ๐Ÿ˜‰

Opening paragraph:

There’s amind-numbing restlessness that comes with living in small towns. The gossip, the people, and the unending monotony that makes you want to poke your eyes out with a fork. I’ve lived my whole life in Sugartown, so I should probably expect nothing to change, and each new day to be just as dull as the last. And yet, every day I wish for the unexpected. I wish for big cities, for open-mindedness, for the ability to jump on my bike and ride the hell out of town and never look back.

Teaser from 6%:

I look at the clock one more. You know? Just in case someone miraculously invented a time machine and I find myself somewhere back in time before three am.

Would you continue to read it?

Today’s Game

Most Anticipated…. list your top ten most anticipated books of 2015

I already did a similar post for the Top Ten Tuesday meme, so I will just link to that post ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is my list

[Review] Daimon by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Synopsis: For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals–pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she’d been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she’s pretty much accepted that she’s a freak by mortal standards… and that she’ll never be prepared for that duty.According to her mother, that’s a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return-the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she’s being hunted by the very creatures she’d once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

Genre: Young Adult
Series: The Covenant #0,5
Date of Publication: May 10th, 2011
Cliffhanger: Yes
HEA/Happy End: Not the right boy in sight

Rating: 4 Stars โœถ โœถ โœถ โœถ

Trying to figure out if you want to read the first book “Half-Blood”? Well, here is a little help for you to decide. Daimon is the prequel of the Covenant-series and for free on the publisher’s website: just follow this link, so try it ๐Ÿ™‚

You like strong, kick-ass heroines with a smartmouth attitude? Well, look no further, because you have found her. Her name is Alex and she’s totally awesome. Let me give you an example ๐Ÿ˜‰

โ€œWas your mom a gardener?โ€ I asked innocently.
โ€œWhat?โ€ Renโ€™s mouth hung open slightly.
โ€œBecause a face like yours belongs planted on the ground.โ€

[…] I kind of missed fighting, especially the rush of adrenaline and the “Damn, I rock” felling that came along with taking someone down.

And? Intrigued? Then go on and read it ๐Ÿ™‚

Because let me be honest: I have no idea what I shall write now. This short story was really short, like 60 pages, and I don’t want to spoil everything for you, so I can’t really write anything.

So I guess you have to figure out the rest by yourself. Hope you enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars

The GIF Tag (Show me your GIFs!)

Nyze from Everything Nyze nominated me for this TAG, she also made this adorable button. Really cute, right? Here is her post btw. And THANKS for nominating me ๐Ÿ™‚ Someone finally saw my love for GIFs ๐Ÿ˜‰

So hereโ€™s how it works:
-link the person who tagged you
-give 1 GIF to books that
were listed by the one who tagged you
-list 10 books for those you want to tag
-tag at least five of your friends

Books listed by Nyze

The Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer

I need to read this, maybe next year.

Under the Never Sky Series by Veronica Rossi

Maybe I will read it, maybe not. :/

The Syrena Legacy by Anna Banks

Love this one ๐Ÿ™‚

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Read the first one, but I wasn’t really thrilled :/

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

Beautiful cover, but no. I just know that this isn’t a book I would like.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I have no idea if I want to read this or not.

Sounds interesting, so probably: yes?

The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost

I honestly have no idea if I will like this, but I so want to read it.

Cynthia Eden: Angel of Darkness
Rachel Vincent: My Soul To Take

Fifth Game
Movie Marathon – pick your top 5 books that you think would make awesome movies

I need a new, good alien-movie and I loved this series, so it would be pretty awesome if this would be made into a movie.

Again a book series by JLA, loved this as well and it does feature gargoyles and demons.

I was surprised by this books and I think it would be good movie material.

I don’t think it will ever be made into a movie, because it consist of cutting yourself – to see the future. But it would be pretty cool.

Reapers, Banshees, Demons and let’s not forget the drama, what’s not to love? I would watch it. Probably multiple times.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing This Year 12/23/14

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke And Bookish.
For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate, click here!

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is:ย Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing This Year.

Only 10 Books… oh man, this is hard. LOL

  1. I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter: Even though it’s for children, I want to read it. Don’t laugh at me ๐Ÿ˜‰
  2. Chasing Power by Sarah Beth Durst: I love books about secret abilies, e.g. telekineses or teleportation.
  3. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: I’m normally not that much into dystopia but this does sound interesting. No Kindle editions though.
  4. Sentinels: Jaguar Nights by Doranna Durgin: I saw this for ages on my recommendation page on Goodreads and I finally decided to take a look. Now I’m intrigued.
  5. Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley: I read two novellas of this series and now I want more, but I’m kind of unsure if I really want to buy them. I would be happy to get them this as a gift though.
  6. Black Wings by Christina Henry: She is an Angel of Death, what else is there to say?
  7. Dying Bites by D.D. Barant: The main character is sucked into a parallel universe where humans are the minor popularity. Sounds interesting.
  8. God Save The Queen by Kate Locke: Steampunk meets Paranormal. I would have bought this ages ago, but the kindle version is just way to expensive. So I wouldn’t mind if Santa would get this for me.
  9. Killing Time by Cindy Gerard: I have already read the Black Ops-series and I will probably buy this next year, but I wouldn’t mind if I would get it as a gift ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison: I feel like everyone has already read this, except for me.

Teaser Tuesday #19 | First Paragraph Tuesday Intros #7 + 4th Game

I decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

I chose the one I just finished: Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout, which is the third book in her Covenant-series.

Opening paragraph:

Red silk clung to my hips, twisting into a tight bodice that accentuated my curves. My hair was down, silky around my shoulders like the petals of an exotic flower. The lights in the ballroom caught each ripple in the fabric so that, with every step, I looked like I was blooming from fire.

Teaser from 34%:

Anger stirred, poking at the cord. “I don’t think Seth is being completely honest with me.”

What is the Read-A-Thon? More details here.

Fourth Game

Psychic or Not…. try to predict what will happen next in the book you are currently reading
I’m going to start Apollyon (book #4 of the Covenant series) today and I guess she will probably be “saved” from Seth. But I won’t tell you what I mean exactly by “saved” because that would be a major spoiler.

Overall progress :

Challenge 1: 1142 of 2000 pages

Challenge 3: 2 out of 4 books

[Review] Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Synopsis: Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.
If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

top 3 #19 + Itโ€™s the End of 2014 Read-A-Thon: Third Game

Selena Gomez – The Heart Wants What It Wants

Too much autotune, but I still like it.

Daniella Andrade – Creep

I don’t know the original, but I like this cover. I think it’s beautiful.

Max Schneider – Can’t Hold Us (Cover)

I like this version more than the original. The original is not bad, even have that one in my playlist as well. Just like Max Schneider’s version more.

No christmas songs, guys. I just don’t like most of them, because I have to listen to them 7 hours when I’m working and after a while you are just annoyed by them.

What is the Read-A-Thon? More details here.

I couldn’t participate in yesterday’s game, because all my books are eBooks and the task was: Color the Rainbow…. this is where you get book covers from your shelves and make a rainbow.
