~~ Deal With The Devil by Cynthia Eden ~~
Eric Pate is used to making his own rules—as the director of the PARA Unit, he is the boss. Everyone rushes to obey his commands, and no one knows his secrets. No one ever gets too close to him. But then he meets her.
Ella Lancaster is tired of being a prisoner. She escaped one hell just to find herself in another, but Eric doesn’t consider her containment with his agents as punishment. He actually thinks it is a form of protection. But Eric is so very wrong. Ella doesn’t need protecting, not for anyone or anything.
But when the PARA Unit comes under attack, Ella and Eric both find themselves battling a supernatural beast that they never expected. Forced to join forces, to make a deal, Ella and Eric are soon fighting side-by-side, and their attraction for each other can’t be contained or controlled. Hot. Wild. Consuming. Ella’s deal with her devil is soon taking over her life.
And as Eric falls deeper and deeper under the mysterious Ella’s spell, his legendary control begins to crack. The beast that he has kept chained so carefully inside rises tothe surface. Unfortunately, when the devil loses his control…there is real hell to pay.
~ My Review~
Cynthia Eden did deliver once again. I was hooked to the pages and I would have finished it in one sitting if I could have just skipped work (sadly I can’t).
Deal With The Devil features the Para Units director Eric Pate, who needed to get a stubborn mate after all the BS he pulled with the members of the Para Unit. Even though he acted like a cold-hearted person all the time in the previous books, he never actually was. He let himself be a guinea big for science, before anyone of his staff was allowed to, because he wanted to know if it would work. And boy, Eric Pate has some screw up DNA now. I’m still not really sure what he is, because he can possible be everything. We know he’s three things for sure, but I won’t spoil that 😉
Even though I liked Eric Pate, my favourite of the series will forever be Connor… I’m sorry, Eric, nobody beats Connor.
“Right,” Connor muttered. “Just keep telling yourself that. But I know you’re hot for the vampiress…”
Ella, Eric’s match, is a cross-over, one part vampire and one part… I won’t tell. But I liked how Miss Eden made that second species evil. I’m not into the good version of that species. Try guessing what species I’m talking about, maybe I will tell you ;P
Even though Ella’s species is basically evil, she is not. She’s a real sweetheart with a stubborn and tough core. In the previous book she was held hostage and was tortured, but she still believes in the good and doesn’t give up so fast.
“Trust me,” [Eric] heard himself murmur. “I am highly aware that she’s a woman.”
A woman who was now striding straight toward him.
“Ah, correction,” Connor said, “that is one very pissed woman.”
Ella and Eric together were really cute and they completed each other perfectly. The only thing bothering me was that I think the relationship between Ella and Eric moved to fast.
