My latest title is TOO HARD TO HANDLE. It’s the eighth book in the Black Knights Inc. romantic suspense series. I say the Black Knights are “grease monkey motorcycle mechanics by day and Uncle Sam’s last resort by night.” Basically, they’re highly covert government operators who hide their business behind the cover of a custom motorcycle shop. Badass dudes on bikes who fall in love with equally badass chicks. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but the series is better if you start at the beginning.
2. Which character of your book was the hardest to write?
They’re ALL hard to write. To tell a good story, you really have to get into the minds of your characters, which takes time and patience and a willingness to let them show you who they are at their own pace. If you try to force them to reveal themselves or be something they aren’t, it shows on the page. You end up with two-dimensional, cookie-cutter characters. So, in short, the hardest character to write is always the one I’m currently writing.
3. If you’re not writing, what do you love to do?
I love to travel. My husband and I have a goal to visit one hundred countries before we kick the bucket. So far, we’ve been to forty-six. Almost halfway there. Which means we’ve still got a lot to do and see. I can’t wait!
4. Any advice / tips for newbies?
Read, read, read in the genre you want to write in. There’s no better teacher than those who have gone before you. Then write, write, write your stories. The only way to get good at something is to practice it over and over again. And finally, revise, revise, revise. Even bestselling authors have to edit and revise their books many times over. No one is perfect the first time.
I’m in the process of finishing a new book. It’s called DEVIL AND THE DEEP and it’s the second book in my bestselling Deep Six romantic suspense series. It’s all the things readers have come to expect from my books: thrills, chills, sexy times, humor, snappy dialogue, and bad guys who get what’s coming to them. It will hit shelves this coming spring!
