Synopsis:

I’m good at two things: finding treasure and killing demons. Lying low is a close third—but not because I want to be good at hiding. I have to be. I’m a FireSoul, one of the unlucky few to inherit a piece of the dragon’s soul. Being born with the dragon’s covetousness should be a sweet gig – I have the power to find and steal any type of treasure, including the powers of other supernaturals.

But it doesn’t come without a price – stealing powers requires that I kill, and others would destroy me if they discover what I am. In a world full of magic, hiding my species is the only way to survive. Finding magical artifacts is the only way to pay the bills. It’s a dangerous job when you can barely use your magic, but that’s one of the things I like about it.

When Aidan Merrick, the most powerful shifter in the city, hired me to find an ancient scroll, I didn’t want to take the job. His immense amount of power reminds me of too much of murky memories from a past I can’t remember. But I don’t have a choice. The scroll reveals what I am. And if anyone finds out, I’m dead.

TT + FTPI #1

The LilypadI decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB from A Daily Rhythm, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

~~~~
I’m bringing the Teaser Tuesday + First Paragraph Tuesday back!! Can you believe I haven’t done one of those since early August!?! I mean, SERIOUSLY? How could I not do one? I don’t get it. What was wrong with me?
Anyway, I’m back – or more so the TT & FPTI is back 😀
(Also I decided to start my counting number at 1 again 😉 )
Opening:
Asgard, Afterworld of the Norse Gods
1213 AD
Pain tore through Loki’s chest, burning through every vein in his body. He roared, his muscles straining against the chains that bound him to the rock. Despite his godly strength, he could not break them. Above him, the great snake draped over a limb tree, drippin venom onto his chest. Its yellow eyes gleamed, watching him as the fluid seeped from its fangs.
Teaser from 11%:
She’d already done so much for him. And lost so much because of it.
She was an idiot. There was no question.
A god in disguise
No one in the Prison for Magical Deviants knows that prisoner Logan Laufeyson has secret identity. He is the ancient trickster god Loki, in magical disguise on a mission of his own. A mission that will come to a sudden and disastrous end…
The woman he’s never forgotten
Demi-goddess Sylvi has spent eight hundred years trying to forget her long-ago affair with Loki, which destroyed her dreams and got her banished from her home. When Loki escapes from prison and stumbles through her door with a problem that threatens both their lives, she must set aside her anger while trying to resist a passion she’s never forgotten. The fact that her magic can be enhanced by sex makes ignoring Loki even harder—especially when they must utilize her rare talent.
A threat of ultimate evil
Thrown together, Loki and Sylvi must foil a masterful plot that threatens not only their lives, but every god in existence. It will take all of their power, and all of their long-buried love, to face the ultimate danger – or vanish and be forgotten forever…
Interview with Linsey Hall, author of Fate Undone
1. Tell us something about your latest book. Is it your debut? What genre does it belong to?fate undone
My latest book was Fate Undone, the 5th book in my paranormal romance series The Mythean Arcana. The hero is Loki, the Norse trickster god, and the heroine is his mythological wife, Sigyn. I re-envision their relationship in the past and unite them in the future to fight a great evil. I think it’s my best book yet and truly love the ending.
2. Is your book part of a series or can it be read as a stand-alone?
My books are part of a loosely linked series called The Mythean Arcana. They are slightly better if read in order, but can easily be read out of order.
3. When does your book release?
Master of Fate, Book 6 in the Mythean Arcana releases at the end of September. Like my other books, it’s an adventurous paranormal romance with lots of hot sex. The hero and heroine knew each other in the past, but were torn apart by fate and terrible circumstance. They’re reunited in the present when their past comes back to haunt them and they both struggle to heal from their damage and find their way back to each other. I really love this one because of that element.
4. Which character of your book was the hardest to write?
Felix, the hero of Master of Fate, was the hardest to write because he has had some pretty terrible stuff happen to him. But he was also a joy to write because of how committed to the heroine he is.
5. If you’re not writing, what do you love to do?
I love to read and travel and go to the beach.
6. Did anyone inspire you to start writing or did you always knew you just had to write?
I’ve always loved romance novels and I did a lot of writing in my other career as an archaeologist. In 2011, I just had to turn my writing toward romance because I loved reading the books so much.
7. Any advice/tips for newbies?
This is hard because I feel a bit like a newbie myself still. I imagine I’ll still feel like that 20 books in. The best advice I can say is to just keep writing while also studying craft.
8. Are you already writing a new book? Can you tell us a little bit about it?
I’m finishing the edits on Master of Fate, my 6th book in the Mythean Arcana series. It comes out in late September.
9. A word that you use way too often? (Mine are “quite” and “probably”)
When I speak, it is definitely “do you know what I mean?”. It’s very reflexive for me to end my sentences with it and my mother finds it to be quite annoying :-). I can see her point.
10. Last but not least: What’s your favourite type of candy, if you don’t mind me asking?
This is a hard one. I love all sorts of candy, but right now toffee and chocolate are high on my list.
Linsey Hall is the author of the Mythean Arcana, an adventurous paranormal romance series set in Scotland and other exotic locales. Before becoming a romance novelist, Linsey was a nautical archaeologist who studied shipwrecks from Hawaii and the Yukon to the UK and the Mediterranean. She credits the historical romances of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s with her love of history and her decision to become an archaeologist. After a decade of tromping around the globe in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down and started penning her own romance novels. Her books draw upon her love of history, travel, and the paranormal elements that she can’t help but include. Several of her books may or may not feature her cats.
