Random Question TAG

I saw this one over at Joey’s page Thoughts and Afterthoughts and I knew I had to do it. I wasn’t tagged. No. But I’m doing it anyway.

If you dare.

Do you like blue cheese?

No, gross!

Do you own a gun?

Do you know where I live? Getting a gun in Germany is like trying to win the lottery. Impossible! So, my answer’s no.

What flavour of Kool-Aid was your favourite?

You remember from the last question where I live, right? So… what exactly is Kool-Aid? I don’t think you can buy it here.

Do you get nervous before a doctor’s appointment?

Nope, never had that particular problem.

What do you think of hot dogs?

Why is it called hot dogs? Like seriously, why? I’m more a burger type of girl.

Favourite Christmas movie?

Die Hard 🙂 Love me some Bruce Willis who is destroying everything that is standing in his way. The first one with the skyscraper is my favourite.

What do you prefer to drink in the morning?

Depends if I’m late or not.

Can you do push ups?

Better question: can YOU?

What’s your favourite piece of jewelry?

My everyday earrings? I should probably buy new ones…

Do you have A.D.D.?

Not that I’m aware of. But I’m pretty sure those questions have it.

What’s your favourite shoe?

My Nike Air sneakers. But you’re asking for my favourite “shoe” as in singular, so am I supposed to pick between my right and left shoe? So I guess… the right one?

Middle Name?

No.

Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment?

Like right this moment?

Oh no, moment’s already over.

AWWWWW.

Name 3 drinks you regularly drink?

Water, Cocoa, Coffee

Current worry?

My plants need water.

Current hate right now?

This question. Stop destroying all my fun.

Dum da dum dummmm, what is that?

Eh, what? I don’t understand. Is this a reference of some kind?

How did you bring in the new year?

No clue! It’s already August, do I seem like a person who would still remember something that happened eight months ago? I don’t even remember what I had for dinner last night.

Where would you like to go?

USA, Australia, UK (done that last week)

Do you own slippers?

Yes, but I don’t remember where they are, so I’m running around in socks all day.

What colour shirt are you wearing right now?

Black. Yes, we could debate now that black isn’t an actual colour.

Do you sleep on satin sheets?

Haha, I wish. Cotton.

Can you whistle?

Yes, but I don’t see how this is relevant…

Favourite Colour?

Dark Green. Today.

Would you be a pirate?

If Colin O’Donough would be my captain and soulmate, yes!

What song do you sing in the shower?

If I would sing in the shower it would probably be this: Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen and Underwater by Nikki Flores, but I sing them in my head, that counts, right?

What’s in your pocket right now?

Air. As in nothing but air.

Last thing that made you laugh?

bighero6-baymax_frozen-elsa

This after I saw it on Joey’s post.

Best bed sheets as a child?

Do you mean favourites or like where to purchase the best bed sheets? I’m confused, please elaborate.

Do you love where you live?

A hundred percent “Yes.”

Does someone have a crush on you?

Who would a crush on me? Maybe my laptop though. He always plays the music I want to hear. I think that’s a pretty romantic gesture. Yes, he totally has a crush on me.

What’s your favourite candy?

Katjes Joghurt Gums (I’m eating some while writing this post)

Favourite sports team?

I don’t really have a favourite, but I overall like ice hockey.

Name 3 10 people who will complete this?

I totally stole this tag, so why would anyone want to complete this. I’m a thief, I need to be put behind bars. You shouldn’t encourage me. But if you still want to do it, sure, consider yourself tagged 🙂

Some Updates

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I’m currently pretty stressed out. School and work are taking all of my time away, so I will change some stuff here on my blog.

All the memes will remain. Some I might not take place in every week, but I will try.

The one big change will be about the reviews. They won’t be any longer on thursday or sunday. I will now publish them whenever I had time to write one. Also they will probably be a little shorter than before (yeay, yeay, there weren’t long to begin with).

I hope that once school and work are not so demanding, I will be able to go back to my old schedule.

I hope you can forgive me.

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing This Year.

Only 10 Books… oh man, this is hard. LOL

  1. I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter: Even though it’s for children, I want to read it. Don’t laugh at me 😉
  2. Chasing Power by Sarah Beth Durst: I love books about secret abilies, e.g. telekineses or teleportation.
  3. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: I’m normally not that much into dystopia but this does sound interesting. No Kindle editions though.
  4. Sentinels: Jaguar Nights by Doranna Durgin: I saw this for ages on my recommendation page on Goodreads and I finally decided to take a look. Now I’m intrigued.
  5. Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley: I read two novellas of this series and now I want more, but I’m kind of unsure if I really want to buy them. I would be happy to get them this as a gift though.
  6. Black Wings by Christina Henry: She is an Angel of Death, what else is there to say?
  7. Dying Bites by D.D. Barant: The main character is sucked into a parallel universe where humans are the minor popularity. Sounds interesting.
  8. God Save The Queen by Kate Locke: Steampunk meets Paranormal. I would have bought this ages ago, but the kindle version is just way to expensive. So I wouldn’t mind if Santa would get this for me.
  9. Killing Time by Cindy Gerard: I have already read the Black Ops-series and I will probably buy this next year, but I wouldn’t mind if I would get it as a gift 😉
  10. Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison: I feel like everyone has already read this, except for me.

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is: Top Ten Books I Read In 2014

Night Unbound by Dianne Duvall: You might already know this, but I’m totally in love with this series. I want the new one now and the novella, too.
Archangel’s Shadows by Nalini Singh: I’m glad that this book did not feature Elena and Raphael again, because I like the other characters way more and I’m looking forward to the next one.
Mine To Have by Cynthia Eden: This was the first book of the Mine-series that I ever read and now I’m thinking about reading the whole series.
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout: This was the best freebie I ever read and I don’t regret reading it and the other ones.
White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I was “forced” to read it and I loved it as well. JLA just knows how to write interesting stuff.
Shield Of Winter by Nalini Singh: I was kind of disappointed by this one. Not because it was bad – it wasn’t! – just because I miss this “I was blown away”-feeling I used to get whenever I read a Singh book.
Written In Red by Anne Bishop: I liked the world building and the concept of blood prophets.
My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent: I had this book for years and only this year I made myself read it. I could hit myself for not reading it earlier.
Touch Of Seduction by Rhyannon Byrd: The one book in the series that I like. Thankfully you don’t need to read the others.
Dark Wolf Returning by Rhyannon Bryd: Like always it was fun to read a book of this series and I’m really looking forward to Cian’s book (I’m obsessed with him)

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014 12/09/14

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014.

Not all of the following author were good ones for me, but whatever. I will always link to the author on Goodreads.

  1. Jennifer L. Armentrout: JLA is my best discovery this year. I found her because Obsidian was for free and after finishing that one I had to read the whole Lux-series. Then I saw that she published another series called Dark Elements. I’m now in love with that one, too. I might even like it more than the Lux series. Also I did start her Covenant-series, but I’m still on the first page. Good thing though, the series is already finished.
  2. Anne Bishop: I found her Other-series in the beginning of the year, luckely the second one was already out, so I read that one as well. Now I’m waiting for the third in series. But I don’t think I will read her Black Jewels-series, because I’m not into high fantasy.
  3. Felicity Heaton: I only read the novels that were for free on amazon (and still are) and the short stories in my short story collections. I liked the short stories, the normal books, except for one, are not so good (in my opinion)
  4. Allyson James: I have read the first two books of her stormwalker series while I was on vacation in the Netherlands. I liked them but they had a little bit too much sex in them and I’m not sure if I will read book #3
  5. Colleen Helme: I found her Shelby Nichols series by accident. The first book was for free on amazon and had a nice cover, so I “bought” it and I did not regret it. I loved the whole series. Now I’m waiting for book #7.
  6. Kaylea Cross: Her first book was for free on amazon and I loved it, the second… not so much. She is a one-book-wonder for me.
  7. Rachel Vincent: I had the first Omnibus of her Soul Screamer series on my shelf for what felt like ages and I finally read it and loved it. I did try her Bound series after that but that wasn’t to my liking. Still have to try her Shifter series.
  8. Tijan: I read the first book of the Fallen Crest series (was for free on amazon, still is?) and I developed this love-hate feelings for the book. I won’t pick up the second one. No, no way.
  9. Sylvia Day: I only read the prequel short story of her Renegade Angels series, I liked it, and I also read the first book in the series, but… let’s not talk about that, okay?
  10. Patricia Briggs: Okay, this one is cheating, but shhh! I just recently found her again. I kind of forgot that that she writes books. I read the first of her Mercy Thompson books ages ago and then I was preoccupied with something else and just deleted her out of my memory, but I just read “Cry Wolf”. So I decide that this counts 😉

I’m done. That one was hard. I actually needed to consult my Goodreads “read-2014”-list, but I did it 🙂

Teaser Tuesday #17 | First Paragraph Tuesday Intros #5

I decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

Today I feature “Wicked” by Jennifer L. Armentrout which is the first in a new series and came out yesterday. Sadly I hadn’t had real time to read (go away exams), so this opening and the teaser are new to me as well and now I really want to read it. So frustrating!

Opening paragraph:

Sweat dotted my brow. Tendrils of red hair clung to my neck. My legs felt like I’d been sitting in a sauna. I was pretty sure there was a waterfall of sweat coursing between my breasts, and that alone put my mood somewhere between slapping someone and pushing them in front of a trolley.

Teaser from 18 %:

With only a few hours of sleep before my morning class at Loyola, I was Cranky McCranky-Pants, especially since I skipped the pain pill so I didn’t risk the chance I’d start drooling on myself any more than normal.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2015 12/02/14

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke And Bookish.

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2015

This is for the most part like my TTT from two weeks ago. I kind of copy and pasted it for this post ;P

      1. Shards Of Hope (Psy/Changeling #14) by Nalini Singh: Even though I thought that Shield of Winter was lacking something, I still need this sequel. Like now.
      2. Untitled Immortal Guardians #6 by Dianne Duvall: I love this series and I’m sad that I have to wait a year between each installment. September, hurry up!
      3. Every Last Breath (Dark Elements #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Book #2 ended with a freaking cliffhanger, so I need this. Yesterday.
      4. Bound by Flames (Night Prince #3) by Jeaniene Frost: I’m waiting since a little bit under 2 years for this book. So I’m really happy that it will finally hit the stores in January 2015, after delaying the book for 3 times.
      5. Vision In Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop: I still need to get my own copy of book #2 Murder of Crows but I already read it, so I’m patiently waiting for this one.
      6. Untitled Guild Hunter #7 by Nalini Singh: If this book is again about Elena and Raphael then I will get mad. I need Naasir or Venom or Illium, I do not care which one, but please one of them!
      7. Cursed by Fire by Jacquelyn Frank: It’s a first in a new series and my first book of her since the end of the Nightwalker series, so we will see 🙂
      8. Confession by Cynthia Eden: It’s the first in a new romatic-suspense-series by her and I’m dying to read this.
      9. Of Silk And Steam by Bec McMaster: Okay, I said I wouldn’t read this book but I will probably still read it. I just can’t decide.
      10. Chase The Darkness by J.D.Tyler: I am way behind on this series, but I’m still waiting for this book and maybe by August I have read all the other ones in the series.

I did it! Yeay! Party Time 🙂

Teaser Tuesday #16 | First Paragraph Tuesday Intros #4

I decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

Today I featured the novella “Magic Steals” by Ilona Andrews which was published last week in “Night Shift”. At first I wasn’t sure if I should featured Nalini Singh’s or Ilona Andrew’s novella, but I loved Magic Steals a teeny tiny bit more. So here are the excerpts.

Opening paragraph (it’s a pretty long one):

I looked at myself in the mirror. I wore thiny black panties and a tomato red satin garter belt with black lace-up inserts. The price sticker had described the color as scarlet, but really it was tomato red. The garter held up black fishnet stockings. A matching bra did its best to push up my small boobs. It didn’t have much to work with. I wasn’t just skinny. When my body was made, someone read the instructions wrong. I had tiny boobs, narrow hips, and thin chopstick legs with knoppy legs.
I looked ridiculous.

Teaser from page 98:

Jim wasn’t just a badass. He was a badass who wrote a book for badasses on how to be a badder badass.

I so loved this novella. I want a full length novel about Dali and Jim. Does anyone know if one is progress?

“Sisterhood of the World Bloggers” Award

Due to school and work I was not able to publish my usually friday post, so please take this award as an apology 😉

sisterhood1_zpsd02b6750

I was nominated by Diane from Brilliantly Novel for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.
Thanks for making me a member of this sisterhood 🙂

The Rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
2. Put the award logo on your blog.
3. Answer the ten questions they’ve set you.
4. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
5. Nominate ten people.

Here are Diane’s questions:

1. Fantasy or Contemporary? Without thinking: Fantasy. I’m not a big fan of comtemporary, usually there is way too much drama for me. Some are nice, but those are the exception.

2. If you could recast ONE character in a movie adaptation, which one would you change? What actor/actress would you put in their place? I just talked about this with Nyze from Everything Nyze. I would switch Jamie Campbell Bower who played Jace in the TMI movie and I don’t really care who takes his part as long as it’s not him.

3. What book has made you cry the hardest? I’m not really the typ who cries while reading a book. I might have some tears in my eyes, but that’s all.

4. What is your favorite kind of blog post? I love TAGs, but they are kind of rare and not a every week thing, so I will pick the TOP TEN TUESDAY.

5. Salty or Sweet? Sweet, definitely. I can’t live without chocolate.

6. What book is currently at the very tip-top of your TBR? That would be “Wicked” by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

7. Do you lend out your books? Why or why not? That depends. If I know that the person takes as much care with a book as I do, then I will lend it out. But if a person, whose books just look bad, would ask, I would not so politely say no.

8. Pick your favorite book. If it were to be made into a movie, what one song would HAVE to be on the soundtrack?: One of my favourite books is Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh and the song that needed to be on the soundtrack would be “Take me or leave me” from the musical RENT. I always pictured Sienna singing this to Hawke. He did want her, but wouldn’t touch her (because of her age) but at the same time he did not allow anyone else to court her. The song just fits.

9. Standalone or Series?: I kind of tend to read standalone that are in a series at least with paranormal romance. I always want to know every story of every couple, so they all need their own book. Regarding Young Adult I choose series – way more fun.

10. Book covers: To judge or not to judge?: I totally judge them, which is just weird, because I have a Kindle and never look at the cover again. It’s just that 95% of the books with bad covers are just bad, so I’m kinda shallow.

My questions for you:

1. What is in your opinion the worst thing people do to books?
2. If you could switch places with a favourite hero / heroine for one day, who would you pick?  From what book / movie / tv show is your character?
3. What was the first video game you ever played?
4. What is your favourite fruit or vegetable?
5. Would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf? Or maybe something entirely different?
6. How many pair of shoes do you have?
7. What is your baddest habit regarding books?
8. Your favourite tv show at the moment?
9. If you could go back in time, what would you like to see?
10. Do you have pets?

I know, I know, these questions are a colourful bunch. I just wrote down what came to me first 😉

And here are my nominees:

Freya from Sound Of A Voice
Nyze from Everything Nyze
Emily from Emilinabooks
Lisa from Bookshelf Fantasies
Kerry from The Roaming Librarian
Sharmaine from Sharmaineloh13
Books and Palettes
Spectacle Aglow

Now I’m off to notify everyone of you 🙂

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR 11/25/14

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke And Bookish.
For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate, click here!

I saw a lot of people do this meme, so I wanted to give a try too. This weeks theme is: Books in my Winter TBR pile

  1. Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout: It’s the first in a new trilogy, so I hope it will be good.
  2. Blood Wolf Dawning by Rhyannon Byrd: I have to know Cian’s story, especially after what happened in Dark Wolf Returning.
  3. Cursed by Fire by Jacquelyn Frank: Again it’s a first in a series, so we will see 🙂
  4. Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh: I will finally get my own copy, so I have to reread it.
  5. Winters Heat by Cristin Harber: Never heard of this author, but I will give it a try. It has nothing to do with the winter season, the dude’s last name is Winter, just FYI.
  6. SEALS of Winter (Short Story Collection): I’m not sure I will read all of the short stories, but I will read at least two or three. This actually has to do with the winter season (at least it says so)
  7. Bound by Flames (Night Prince #3) by Jeaniene Frost: I’m waiting since a little bit under 2 years for this book. So I’m really happy that it will finally hit the stores in January 2015.
  8. Immune by Shannon Mayer: I still need to read this and the winter season makes it possible.

Okay, I’m through. I have no idea what else I want to read. I’m normally more like a spontaneous buyer/reader. It depends on my mood.

Next weeks theme will be: Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2015
