Ten Bookish Things I Want to Quit Or Have Quit

aka ten book series I think I’m going to abandon, ten bookish habits I want to quit, ten authors I quit reading, ten types of books I’m quitting, ten tropes I want to stop reading about, ten books I marked as DNF (did not finish) recently, etc.

Book Habits I want to quit:

1. Reading way too many books at the same time. I’m totally guilty of that and there is always this one book that I totally forget about while reading the others. So I try to limit myself to 3 books at the same time (not always working)

2. Skipping description: I sometimes find myself only reading the dialogue, because I’m not really interested in all the other details. I more like to read about one on one dialogue action between the characters.

Book series I quit ages ago:

3. Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by JR Ward: As much as I like vampire stories, after the eighth book I couldn’t take the repetition anymore.

4. Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian: I liked this series… till Miss Adrian started to write books for the children of all the couples. That just felt like she was milking the series to get more money out of it. So I quit.

5. Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi: I know, I will probably get a lot of hate for this, but I just had to quit this because of the writing style. I found it really annoying. Also I couldn’t stand…what was her name again? Juliet? Juliette? Guilette? I’m too lazy to look it up. I’m sorry, folks.

6. A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston: I just recently dnf-ed this, because of the writing style. Way too hard for me. I want to enjoy reading a book, not feel like I am in an english lesson at school.

7. Night House series: I tried it once, but … please, don’t make me revisit that experience. Also how did that series get so many books? O.O

8. Under The Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi: I won’t even explain that. Read my review if you are interested in my reason for dnf-ing this >>here<<

9. Fallen Crest High series by Tijan: I was kind of hooked to the first book of the series, but for the wrong reasons. So I won’t even bother with reading the second one.

Authors I quit reading:

10. Nicholas Sparks: Do I really need to explain it? I just can’t stand his books. WAY. TOO. CHEESY.

What are your ten things you will quit/have already quit? Let me know in the comments down below.

Ten Authors I’ve Read The Most Books From

I’ve decided to take the “Top” out of the title so now it’s only “Ten Authors”. I wanted to include some authors I stopped reading as well. So here we go.

#1: Cynthia Eden: 39 books(!!!!)

Wow, I’ve just counted them and I’ve really read so many books by her. Oo I’m kind of shocked right now and I haven’t even read all her series completely. I’m still missing like 12-15 books.

By the way I wrote a lot of reviews for her books in the time I’ve been blogging. If you are interested in reading one of those, just typ Cynthia Eden into the search bar.

#2: Nalini Singh: 24 books

I only counted her full novels, no novellas πŸ˜‰ the number would be a lot higher then. I really like Miss Singh’s paranormal series, but I’m not really a fan of her contemporary series. I’ve read the first one of it and I think I dnf-ed it :(. In Germany we have this saying: Schuster bleib bei deinen Leisten. In english it is something like this “A cobble should stick to his last.” I really think she should stick to the paranormal romance genre.

#3: Jennifer L. Armentrout (16) / J.Lynn (4): 20 books

Can you believe I’ve almost forgotten her on my list! Bad me! Bad, bad me! I love her Lux, Covenant and Dark Elements series and please don’t make me pick between one of them. Her New Adult stuff that she writes under her pseudonym are nice as well.

#4: Jeaniene Frost: 12 books

So sad her Night Huntress series is over, but I’m eagerly awaiting her last Night Prince book. Also I’ve read somewhere that Ian will finally get his own book/spin-off(?). YAY!

#5: Ilona Andrews: 11 books

I’m massive behind on her Kate Daniels series! I apologize. I’m working on it πŸ˜‰ I loved Burn For Me and I still need to read the last book in the The Edge series.

#6: Lara Adrian: 11 books

I liked her Midnight Breed series up to the point where she started writing her second story arc. After that I quit.

#7: Rhyannon Byrd: 11 books

I really like her Bloodrunner series and I’ve read some of her Primal Instinct books.

#8: JR Ward: 10 books

I actually stopped reading her books a while back, because I wasn’t invested in them anyone.

#9: Rachel Vincent: 9 books

I loved her Soul Screamer series, read the first of her Unbound series (which wasn’t for me) and I kind of liked The Stars Never Rise.

#10: Jennifer Estep: 8 books

I read a good part of her Elemental Assassins series, but I binged on them and that was a mistake, since they are really repetitive. So I stopped. I’m currently in the slow process of listening to her Mythos Academy series and I still need to read Cold Burn Of Magic :/

Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read

Please note: This is my opinion, it doesn’t mean that these books are indeed bad or that you couldn’t enjoy these. I just have never read them (and for some I never plan to).

The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

I listened to the first Percy Jackson book and I watched the first movie. Both bored me pretty much. Also I found them quite ridiculous. So I’m really wary of giving this series a chance.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Let me be honest with you. I got the audio book of this from the library a while back, but I haven’t felt the need to start this so far.

The Faults in Our Stars by John Green

I’m sorry, but I don’t like John Green and sad books, so I won’t even pick this up. It’s my opinion, deal with it, people.

Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling

I tried the first book when I was nine, but it couldn’t hold my back then really short attention span, but I will try it again, I promise. Just give me some time to get to it.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I have the ebook, since it was free, but this isn’t really my genre and I probably will never pick this up.

The Lord Of The Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

I hate medieval books and I didn’t really enjoyed the movies (I slept through them), so I won’t pick this up, like never.

Fifty Shades Of Grey by E.L. James

I read the first few pages in the store and I bursted out laughing. No, I won’t read this. I have nothing against erotica, but this just sounds stupid.

Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown

Not my type of books. Sorry, not sorry.

House Of Nights series by P.C. & Kristin Cast

Please, put these books away. I have the first as an audio book, because someone I won’t name thought it would be a good idea to get it for me. It was on sale – and only it – which in my opinion, said a lot about it.

I listened to the first few tracks, only to delete it from my phone shortly after.

The Giver by Lois Lowry

This doesn’t sound like I could enjoy it, so I won’t even think about trying it.

Top Ten Books On My TBR For Summer 2015

Ten Books on my Summer TBR…. I hate making those lists, because I never read all of those books πŸ˜‰ I had to look up for when to when Summer is exactly. It’s from June 21st to September 23rd, if we can believe Wikipedia.

I intend to read some of the books I have from NetGalley and are long overdue and then the new releases I’m eagerly awaiting.

Anyway, here we go (click on the covers to be taken to GoodReads):

Burned by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

Publication Date: June 30th
A new series by Alexandra Ivy and it’s about dragon. Can’t wait to read it. Also it will be my first Alexandra Ivy book that I read in english. Till now I’ve only read the translations. So I’m curious to see how her actual writing style is.

Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Publication Date: July 28th
Finally the third and last installment of the Dark Elements series will be out. I can wait to see with whom Layla will end up. If she ends up with Zayne I will stab my eyes out. Also I’m curious to see how the whole conflict in the book will end. But still: Layla and Roth 4-Ever πŸ˜€

Shadow Strikes by Dianne Duvall

Publication Date: August 25th
After a good year of waiting I will finally be able to hold the new book in my hands. It’s going to be about Ethan, who I got all the feels for after one hilarous scene in the previous book. Also I can’t wait to find out who the bad guy is, hopefully we will find out this book. I’m dying out of curiousity.

Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh

Publication Date: September 1st
Finally, finally, finally we will get the story of Naasir. I love that guy, even though I have no idea what he is exactly. I just hope his significant other won’t try to tame him, because I love him as he is. But I think I have to re-read the previous book, because I’m not sure what I actually remember :/

NetGalley titles I want to read in Summer

Now I still have two spaces left, I think I’m going to read probably the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, since I just bought the first 5 books (I count them as one spot on my list. I know I’m cheating ;))

And the last book I’m thinking about reading is Sixth Grave On The Edge by Darynda Jones.

Well, this is my summer tbr of 2015. What do you plan to read? Leave your link in the comment section below πŸ™‚

Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer

I’m more like a mood reader, but I’m 100% positive I will read the following books in the summer.
(Click on the tiny covers to be guided to GoodReads)

Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
It’s the last in the Dark Elements series and I just need to know how it will all end and who Layla will choose. Let it be Roth, otherwise I’m going to hit something.

Shards Of Hope by Nalini Singh
I have to confess I’m not really prone of those Psy + Psy constellations, I want my Psy + changeling couples back, but I’m going to read this one anyway. Did you know this is probably the longest series I have ever read. With Shards Of Hope it reached 13 books.

Shadow Strikes by Dianne Duvall
I’m so going to devour this. I just loved every book of this series till now and I don’t see that streak breaking. F-U-N ! … Now the Spongebob song is stuck inside my head…

A Sorceress of His Own by Dianne Duvall
This is the first in a new series of Miss Duvall. I’m kind of wary when it comes to historicals, but I will give it a try, because I love her other series. And I’m always trying to find new genres for me, because just PNR and UF gets boring with some time.

Burned by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy
This is a brand-new series by Alexandra Ivy and it will feature dragons, so I’m delving into a kind-of-new supernatural theme for me. The only dragons I have ever read about are the ones from the Eragon series.

Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh
This book will be about Naasir and I really need to read this, because I must find out what Naasir is. Also that guy is adorable … in his be-careful-when-you-touch-him-otherwise-he-will-bite-of-your-hand kind of way. I’m wondering who will be his match.

Deal With the Devil by Cynthia Eden
A season list without a Cynthia Eden books wouldn’t be a list of mine, so here it is πŸ˜‰ It’s the fourth book of the Purgatory series and I can’t wait to see who Eric Pate’s woman will be. I hope she lets him work a lot before she gives in.

Like I said I’m more like a mood reader, so I will stop here now. πŸ™‚

Ten Books I Want You To Try 05/19/15

Ten Authors I want you to try

Ok, this week’s episode of TTT was a freebie and I’m generally bad at coming up with a theme myself. So Ten Books I Want You To Read was the best thing I could come up with.

1. Carrots by Colleen Helme: I found this book completely by accident. It’s a woman, named Shelby, who was shot in the head and now has the awesome ability to read minds. Also she gets into a lot of dangerous situation and the books are just so funny. And … Ramos is my favourite. He’s just … *sigh*
2. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Found this by accident, too, and I was in love with this after the few first pages. Because, hello? A girl that is a blogger like me (she actually inspired me to start this blog) and hot guys, also … Aliens? Totally sold.
3. My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent: Let me be honest with you, I wasn’t completely sure about this one, but after I’ve read the second one (my edition was a 2-in-1 book) I was hooked and read the whole series in a week.
4. First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones: I won this book in a giveaway and I loved it. Charley, the main character, is my favourite kind of character. She’s sarcastic, funny, can see ghosts and she has this weird habit of naming her furniture.
5. Last Wolf Standing by Rhyannon Byrd: I actually started with the fourth book in series, but I liked it so much, I just had to read the other ones, too. Because, come on! Hot male alphas and women, who won’t take the shit the guys through on them.
6. Hotter After Midnight by Cynthia Eden: It was the every first book by Cynthia Eden I’ve read and every other book by her was just as good.
7. Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard: I have this weird obsession with Black Ops guys and if you love action-filled books with a romance try it.
8. One Night Of Sin by Elle Kennedy: Hot MMA-fighter who liked to talk dirty, what else to say?

I just noticed I forget my two favourite of all time authors! Bad me.

9. Slave To Sensation by Nalini Singh: I love the world-building, the characters, the humor, just everything.
10. Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall: The characters are just like a big family. Love them all to death.

Ten books I will probably never read

Ok, I know I will probably earn a lot of hate with this list, but whatever. Also this post was way harder to write than I thought. It’s just that usually I think about what books I want to read and not which I don’t want to read. Anyway, let’s start.

  1. Divergent by Veronica Roth: Just no.
  2. Anything by Nicholas Sparks: I just hate 100% romances, they are just way to cheesy for me and I’ve tried to read one Sparks novel and let me tell you something. I through it after a rough 20% across my room (and I usually don’t do that with books), but it deserved it. I think afterwards I gave it to the welfare.
  3. The Host by Stephenie Meyer: Can I repeat myself? Just no.
  4. Through The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: I hated the first novel in the series, so why should I bother picked up the second one?
  5. Unraveled by Gena Showalter: Loved her Lords Of The Underworld series, but the first books of this series wasn’t it for me, so I won’t bother with reading Unraveled.
  6. Marked by P.C. & Kristin Cast: Never!
  7. The Dead Girls’ Dance by Rachel Caine: Glasses Houses, the first in series, was just bad – no other way to describe it – so nope, won’t pick this up.
  8. Rosemarie and Rue by Seanan McGuire: I tried a sample of this, but it constains fae. Fae and me do not mix, so no.
  9. Kindling Moon by Jenn Bennett: Kind of the same problem like with Rosemarie and Rue, only this time it’s about magician.
  10. Claimed by Rebecca Zanetti: I tried Fated and I just did not like it. It made absolutely no sense, so why should I care for Claimed?

Here is was my “No”-list. What books will you never pick up? Leave your link in the comment section below.
