As a Part-time PI and fulltime grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.

There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?

Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murder, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…

Synopsis:

In a small village in New York lives Jane Doe, a girl with no memory of who she is or where she came from. So when she is working at a diner and slowly begins to realize she can see dead people, she’s more than a little taken aback. Stranger still are the people entering her life. They seem to know things about her. Things they hide with lies and half-truths. Soon, she senses something far darker. A force that wants to cause her harm, she is sure of it. Her saving grace comes in the form of a new friend she feels she can confide in and the fry cook, a devastatingly handsome man whose smile is breathtaking and touch is scalding. He stays close, and she almost feels safe with him around.

But no one can outrun their past, and the more lies that swirl around her—even from her new and trusted friends—the more disoriented she becomes, until she is confronted by a man who claims to have been sent to kill her. Sent by the darkest force in the universe. A force that absolutely will not stop until she is dead. Thankfully, she has a Rottweiler. But that doesn’t help in her quest to find her identity and recover what she’s lost. That will take all her courage and a touch of the power she feels flowing like electricity through her veins. She almost feels sorry for him. The devil in blue jeans. The disarming fry cook who lies with every breath he takes. She will get to the bottom of what he knows if it kills her. Or him. Either way.

Few things in life can come between a grim reaper and her coffee, but the sexy, sultry son of Satan is one of them. Now that Reyes Farrow has asked for her hand, Charley Davidson feels it’s time to learn more about his past, but Reyes is reluctant to open up. When the official FBI file of his childhood abduction lands in her lap, Charley decides to go behind her mysterious beau’s back and conduct her own investigation. Because what could go wrong?

Unfortunately, another case has fallen into her lap—one with dangerous implications. Some very insistent men want Charley to hunt down a witness who is scheduled to testify against their boss, a major player in the local crime syndicate. If Charley doesn’t come up with an address in 48 hours, the people closest to her will start to disappear.

Add to that a desperate man in search of the soul he lost in a card game, a dogged mother determined to find the ghost of her son, and a beautiful, young Deaf boy haunted by his new ability to see the departed as clearly as he sees the living, and Charley has her hands full. The fact that Reyes has caught on to her latest venture only adds fuel to the inferno that he is. Good thing for Charley she’s used to multi-tasking and always up for a challenge…especially when that challenge comes in the form of Reyes Farrow.

Top Ten Books On My TBR For Summer 2015

Ten Books on my Summer TBR…. I hate making those lists, because I never read all of those books 😉 I had to look up for when to when Summer is exactly. It’s from June 21st to September 23rd, if we can believe Wikipedia.

I intend to read some of the books I have from NetGalley and are long overdue and then the new releases I’m eagerly awaiting.

Anyway, here we go (click on the covers to be taken to GoodReads):

Burned by Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

Publication Date: June 30th
A new series by Alexandra Ivy and it’s about dragon. Can’t wait to read it. Also it will be my first Alexandra Ivy book that I read in english. Till now I’ve only read the translations. So I’m curious to see how her actual writing style is.

Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Publication Date: July 28th
Finally the third and last installment of the Dark Elements series will be out. I can wait to see with whom Layla will end up. If she ends up with Zayne I will stab my eyes out. Also I’m curious to see how the whole conflict in the book will end. But still: Layla and Roth 4-Ever 😀

Shadow Strikes by Dianne Duvall

Publication Date: August 25th
After a good year of waiting I will finally be able to hold the new book in my hands. It’s going to be about Ethan, who I got all the feels for after one hilarous scene in the previous book. Also I can’t wait to find out who the bad guy is, hopefully we will find out this book. I’m dying out of curiousity.

Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh

Publication Date: September 1st
Finally, finally, finally we will get the story of Naasir. I love that guy, even though I have no idea what he is exactly. I just hope his significant other won’t try to tame him, because I love him as he is. But I think I have to re-read the previous book, because I’m not sure what I actually remember :/

NetGalley titles I want to read in Summer

Now I still have two spaces left, I think I’m going to read probably the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, since I just bought the first 5 books (I count them as one spot on my list. I know I’m cheating ;))

And the last book I’m thinking about reading is Sixth Grave On The Edge by Darynda Jones.

Well, this is my summer tbr of 2015. What do you plan to read? Leave your link in the comment section below 🙂

Ten Authors I want you to try

Ok, this week’s episode of TTT was a freebie and I’m generally bad at coming up with a theme myself. So Ten Books I Want You To Read was the best thing I could come up with.

1. Carrots by Colleen Helme: I found this book completely by accident. It’s a woman, named Shelby, who was shot in the head and now has the awesome ability to read minds. Also she gets into a lot of dangerous situation and the books are just so funny. And … Ramos is my favourite. He’s just … *sigh*
2. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Found this by accident, too, and I was in love with this after the few first pages. Because, hello? A girl that is a blogger like me (she actually inspired me to start this blog) and hot guys, also … Aliens? Totally sold.
3. My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent: Let me be honest with you, I wasn’t completely sure about this one, but after I’ve read the second one (my edition was a 2-in-1 book) I was hooked and read the whole series in a week.
4. First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones: I won this book in a giveaway and I loved it. Charley, the main character, is my favourite kind of character. She’s sarcastic, funny, can see ghosts and she has this weird habit of naming her furniture.
5. Last Wolf Standing by Rhyannon Byrd: I actually started with the fourth book in series, but I liked it so much, I just had to read the other ones, too. Because, come on! Hot male alphas and women, who won’t take the shit the guys through on them.
6. Hotter After Midnight by Cynthia Eden: It was the every first book by Cynthia Eden I’ve read and every other book by her was just as good.
7. Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard: I have this weird obsession with Black Ops guys and if you love action-filled books with a romance try it.
8. One Night Of Sin by Elle Kennedy: Hot MMA-fighter who liked to talk dirty, what else to say?

I just noticed I forget my two favourite of all time authors! Bad me.

9. Slave To Sensation by Nalini Singh: I love the world-building, the characters, the humor, just everything.
10. Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall: The characters are just like a big family. Love them all to death.

Bout Of Books Read-A-Thon Challenge 2

Day #2: Challenge by LuLo Fangirl.

Character Face-Off

In her challenge I have to do the following:

Create the ultimate character face-off.

Pick two of your all-time favorite characters. They can be from the books you chose for the read-a-thon (or not — totally up to you).

Even though they are both your favorite, you HAVE to choose one as the winner. And tell me why.

Sell me on why this ONE character is your favorite character of ALL characters.

Character #1: Sienna Lauren

(Psy/Changeling-series by Nalini Singh)

Who: Psy who is the only cardinal X in the world, which means she is powerful and can create and controll fire

Pros: loyal, sarcastic, funny, awesome bigger sister, doesn’t give up, smart, honest

Cons: stubborn, snarky, moody

Character #2: Charley Davidson

(Charley Davidson-series by Darynda Jones)

Who: PI who can see ghosts, because she is the grim reaper.

Pros: funny, sarcastic, loyal, witty

Cons: short attention span, forgives to easy (Reyes!), rude

Winner: Sienna Lauren

Why: As much as I love Charley, I would always choose Sienna over her (sorry, Charley!). Sienna is just so down to earth, smart and she is adorable to her man. Also Charley had absolutely no chance, because Sienna is my all-time favourite character since I first read about her in the very first Psy/Changeling book (again, sorry, Charley!). And then there is this little ability of her to throw flames. I think she would totally help me destroy my enemies if I had any. She’s just that cool.

So, that was the second challenge 😉 and my reason made absolutely no sense, but whatever. I just love her, don’t judge me ;D

Before I forget it, I made a post for “healthy” snack you can eat during the Read-A-Thon, check it out here.

TT #34 / FTPI #22

I decided to combine the Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB from A Daily Rhythm, with the First Chapter ~ First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, hosted by Bibliophile By the Sea.

Today I decided to feature Third Grave Ahead by Darynda Jones, third book in the Charley Davidson series. This is a teaser for me as well, because I have to write an exam tomorrow morning, so I have to learn a little bit today. But I will definitely start this tomorrow after class 🙂

Opening:

There was a dead clown sitting in my living room. Since I wasn’t particularly fond of clowns, and it was way too early for anything coherent to come out of my mouth, I pretended not to notice him.

Teaser from 17%:

“He’s pissed as hell, Charley. At you.”
“Pfft. How do you know he’s mad at me? Maybe he’s mad at you.”
